The Australian Oztag
Association.
A non-profit association promoting Oztag — the largest non-tackling form of Tag in Australia, with competitions across five states and a representative pathway all the way to the green and gold.
The Australian Oztag Association is a non-profit sporting association promoting Oztag, the first non-tackling adaptation of the rugby codes. It is the largest non-tackling form of Tag in Australia, with active competitions across NSW, Queensland, the ACT, Victoria and WA.
The game involves a maximum of eight players on the field at any one time, with the objective to score tries and to defend by “tagging” opponents.
Since its inception in 1992, Oztag has grown beyond Australia and is now played by over 20 nations worldwide. Australian Oztag is represented on the Board of the International Tag Federation, and Australia will host the next World Cup in late 2026.
Oztag is played socially at club level and has an established representative pathway, where players can be selected to represent Australia — the Tagaroos. In Australia, the game is played by more than 200,000 players, with female participation at 40% and growing.
